About Viking Finds
Viking Finds is an atlas of the Viking Age: burial mounds, runestones, ship graves, hoards, settlements and stray finds, mapped from national heritage registers and from the people who walk the ground.
We started with Norway, where the national register is open data. Every site from a register is marked verified. Sites added by members are marked community once a moderator has checked them. Nothing appears on the map without a source or a review.
What you can do here
- Explore the map by site type and by period, from the first raids to the end of the Viking Age.
- Add a site the map is missing, with a pin, a description, references and photos.
- Discuss any site in its own thread, or join the general forum.
