Finland’s largest Viking-era silver coin hoard found

Archaeologists in southern Finland have unearthed the country's largest known Viking-era silver coin hoard near the village of Sysmä. The discovery marks a significant find for understanding Viking trade networks and wealth accumulation in the Nordic region, following recent major hoard discoveries elsewhere in Scandinavia. Large concentrations of silver coins from this period typically reveal patterns of commerce, tribute, or wealth storage among Viking-Age communities.
